I am Brian Coley. I am an experienced and accomplished trombonist with a passion for music performance. Classical, jazz and swing, R&B, and gospel are among the genres in which I most specialize. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina Greensboro and possess a B.A. in Biology as well as an M.S. in Biochemistry. Yes, you read that right, my formal education is in biochemical sciences. However, my musical ability on the trombone is quite exceptional, and is by no means lacking.
I am constantly honing my skills and expanding my musical knowledge. I have been entrenched in music since I was 11 years old when, in the 6th grade, I was introduced to the trombone. It was a natural fit as I quickly excelled on the instrument. Throughout my high school career, I frequently made the rosters of Honor Bands in the State of North Carolina. And the age of 14, I also began learning to play the piano, further increasing my musical versatility.
Over the years, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to showcase my musical talent with various groups and ensembles. I have performed as a trombonist with the Tabernacle of Prayer Faith and Deliverance Church, The Open Door Ministry of Faith and Deliverance Center, the Norfolk State University Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble, The University of North Carolina Greensboro Wind Ensemble, and the University of North Carolina Trombone Choir. I have also served as a supporting pianist for several churches in Greensboro and Rocky Mount, NC. Currently, I perform regularly as trombonist with the Greensboro Concert Band, the Greensboro Trombone Ensemble, and the Kings of Swing Jazz Orchestra of High Point, North Carolina, and the North Carolina Film Orchestra.
